Hey, thanks Elana. I love to hear about folks who also have animals with special needs. I love all my animals to pieces, but I have a special affinity with my needy rescue dog. He has come such a long way and I know he is better off with all the work we hav done with him.

Thanks for the cat book. I read A Cat Named Darwin and didn't love it so much. I think there are too few good cat books out there. Maybe now that dog books have taken off the cats ones will be forthcoming.

Good luck with your feline friend, he sounds like he leads a great life!!

I would love to read this book, what a brilliant review.

I read Marley and Me and loved that probably because it was about dogs.

Speaking about cats though I read The Cat that Looked At the Sky (Thea Astley) I think and I loved it.

I got a kitten who was feral. He wouldn't come near me or anybody. He is and was terrified of vets, of being touched. He hissed and bit and scratched and snarled. For the first year, I did not know what to do with him.

So I just loved him, talked to him, accepted that he was a very strange cat and stroked him with foil balls because he would not let me near him. And now he is 6 years old and still a bit feral but a happy, loved, content ... in fact I'd love to come back as him with his life.

He lets me pick him up now and he purrs whenever I am near. He sleeps on the bed with me, comes when I call, ignores me when he has something better to do.

I have learnt to just love them, look after them, train them, don't let them get away with everything and love them - it is so rewarding.

I'm going to find a copy of that book.
